The South Beach Beverage Company is a drink manufacturer based in Norwalk, Connecticut. It was incorporated in 1996 by four partners who were purportedly interested in health and fitness. Their first product was "SoBe Black Tea 3G", the major ingredients of which were ginseng, guarana, and gingko. The popularity of this product led to the introduction of "SoBe Green Tea 3G", "SoBe Oolong Tea 3G" and many others. These original products are the template for all of the company's new ones. Recently they have started to manufacture a canned energy drink similar to Red Bull or Rockstar, branded "SoBe No Fear".
The company's marketing strategy is geared toward younger people, and includes brand association with lizards and suppliment herbs such as ginseng. This marketing is evidenced in the over 200 "under-the-cap slogans", often a takeoff of popular culture, such as "Say hello to my little lizard!" (A reference to the popular movie Scarface. The actual quote is, "Say hello to my little friend!")
